Superbrace?

While I don't own a Hannigan. I do have a 2010 GW with MT kit.
I got some info here and bought the brace thinking I might have needed it.
I had no complaints but maybe it might help with a bit of front wheel hop I had experienced at highway speed at one time on a seam, so I got myself one.

Long story short.
I cant feel any differences since installing it.
Has it helped?? Has it hurt anything Nope.

Did I waste a bunch of money on a toy??
Yea I tend to think so.
I use my trike to commute with daily.
I cant honestly say its helped anything one bit.
But
It also hasn't had any negative effect on me or the trike.
Would I buy it again almost 2 years later??
I don't believe I would.

As usual others have different experiences so don't limit your question to one make of trike.
We all have the same front end for the most part.

I have a 2000 gl1500 SE with MT conversion, when I first bought the trike I noticed that the front end tended to hop when pushing through curves. I read several post about the super brace on another forum and since it didn't cost a large amount of money I went ahead and bought one and installed it. On the next ride my wife and I took I noticed that the trike seemed to stay planted in the curves rather than trying to plow through them, it handled more crisp and precise than before I installed the brace, my wife who didn't know I had put the brace on even asked if I had done something to the trike because it didn't seem as squirrely in the curves as it had before. This is just my experience and opinion and each bike my act different so you will have to decide if you want to try it or not but like the post above even if you don't feel any difference it doesn't hurt anything, it really isn't that expensive to buy and very easy to install.

Several years back (5 or 6 ?), while attending Americade, we had a Superbrace installed on our '95 1500 (then still on 2 wheels). The improved, more "solid" feel was immediately apparent. We went back the next day and had one installed on the 1200 Trike. No regrets for us - great purchase. ThumbUp

Just put one on last week, after recommendations here.

Let me say the following.
Mt gl1800
NO rake.
Michelin PA tire.

I installed it and the difference was astounding, the front end did not even feel the same. there is noticably less effort in guiding the trike. going straight takes almost NO effort to guide down the highway, NONE. I just reat my hands on the grips, and am totally relaxed.
now for the turns, I did a sweeping freeway tune at speed, and I barely touched the handlebars. well you may be asking how did I make the turn??

I just leaned and stepped on the footpegs. Im not kidding, the steering was just that stable. I almost oversteered my turn because I was turning like I was used to w/o the brace.

Overall ... IMO... Great improvement

Whey you get your "Super Brace", could you measure the ID of the clamps. I'm Looking to see if I can make something work on my Kawasaki.

Thanks

Be sure and follow instructions for Superbrace on the 1500.Some require a slight trimming to set in so as not to bind the front shocks. After a couple hundred miles re-check torque and you are good to go.
You will like the difference.

Sonny, You were right. Lucky I had a file & sand paper handy & I'm glad the S/Brace is made of soft aluminum. It's raining so I've put off my test ride. I'll post the results I find. Next project is a volt meter!
Thanks again………… Hocky :Dorag:
