tonight is our NRL State of origin game. sort of Australia's equivalent to your NFL.
it is a series of 3 games though and tonight is game 2.
Queensland V new South Wales.
As i live in Queensland i am looking forward to this.. my state has won more State of origins, and we are on an unprecedented 8 years in a row.
New south Wales won game one, and have a good chance of winning this year, but i will be hoping not. lol

GO QUEENSLAND

You compared the NRL to the NFL in the U.S., and that reminded me of the early days of the sports network ESPN. In the beginning ESPN didn't have contracts with the big money sports, so they would show "minor" sports (remember - 'Merican here) like Darts, Track & Field, Pesäpallo (Finnish Baseball), Hurling and our favorite - Australian Rules Football.

Australian Rules (footy?) was my first thought when you said it was like the NFL. (both have "football" in the name, and right now I am feeling too lazy to look it up. 'Merican, remember;)) but the acronym didn't really match, so I then went to Rugby. NRL most likely means National Rugby League, and as the word "league" is in the title I guess you are talking about Rugby League rules, not Union or 7's. Would be neat to watch. Is there a playback on-line for folks on this side of the world to watch or do we just get some highlights on a NRL website?

yes we are talking rugby league. not that Aussie rules stuff. it was a fairly agressive game, hard fought and a lot of facial forearms, and big hits. Queensland lost our supremacy in a very low scoring game, an almost unheard of 6-4.
not sure where it is available to see, i know it was beamed live to many countries, but USA may not be on the list as you dont have that much of a fan base there. If you can find a way to watch it game 3 will still be a big game. Queensland will want at least one win even if we have lost the series.
my pick is it will erupt into a punch up. the reason last nights game didnt is because anyone throwing punches would miss the last game, but that threat is redundant for game 3.
