Story About Trike Sales

I been stopping at cycle shops and Honda dealership to get a handle on the market value on my '12 Goldwing trike w/navi

on a Road Smith conversion with less then 25,000 miles on clock.

One Honda dealership had one used '12 like mine, same color but twice as many miles on the O/D.

They had a price of $30,000 on a tag.

When talking to the trade-in dude, he offered to buy mine out right for $10,000 less then the one he had already on the floor.

He admitted of the 6 used Goldwing trikes, the prices were inflated to a point were they know the dealership would never get those prices.

I thought, if I was looking to buy, I'll bet he wouldn't admit to that...….

I sold a 2006 Level III Gold Wing (Nav+ Comfort System and Prem Audio) w/a 2010 Hannigan conversion (chrome wheels, foot fairings and rear spoiler) w/38K miles in 2013 for $21,000.

So, more miles, but about the same age as your 2012 is now.

I think the dealer is looking for $2K to $3k profit on your trike. Hence the $20k offer.

With his priced at $30K, I'd be surprised at anyone still talking to him after that high a price was quoted:xzqxz:

Can't speak from a dealership point of view, but back when we were still licensed as a converter we had a clean low mileage GL1500 that we put a kit on as a demo unit. Not wanting to sell it because show season was full swing we priced it sky high; guy walked in one day for a tour, checked the bike out & left.

Came back the next day with a cashiers check for the full list price we stuck on it. We NEVER thought anyone would even glance at it twice with such a high sticker price, but sometimes you never know

Sometimes you have to raise the flag high, And then wait to see who Salute's it....:wave4:...

Harley has also been hit with poor customer service.....Go on any HD Forum and look at the posts on the M8 engine ....Sumping and Oil Migration.....My dealer still has my 17 T/G that i traded for a Slingshot...Last Summer...

And not to get political, The nonsense excuse they used for moving overseas...[Trump Tariffs] ....That alone lost them a few of the Kool-Aid drinkers...:D..

Bob, I think you are correct about the Harley customer service issue. My good friend has a 2017 Triglide and has had it in the shop almost as much as he has had it out. All the issues you mentioned plus several others. Now a clutch recall where he was told they probably will have to wait until late Spring. He is 6' 5'' and really can't fit on any other make. He wears size 16 shoes, so trying to shift a Wing is impossible for him.
