OK, bought my FLRT on 23 December and rode it home 55 miles. Since then has rained for all but 2 days. Sun was out today for a bit so rode 60 miles. Wind was blowing 25 to 35 MPH and 42 deg. (I know for you riders up north no big deal but here with wind chill and 92% humidity it is cold) but no rain. So far I am up to a whopping 260 miles but this coming week better weather so hope to get some miles on this thing. Normally I ride 20,000 miles per year average so this is pretty frustrating. Anyway, think I am going to like the FLRT once all my accessories are in and I have it set up the way I want. Pretty fun machine to ride!

Kinda like being ALL DRESSED UP AND NO WHERE TO GO! Hang on it'll get better. Good time for trip planning, map reading and stuff like that. RIDE SAFE

It was a bit chilly here in So. Cal. this morning, BUT wife and I, and our riding buddies around the block fired up the Harleys and rode about 60 miles to Santa Paula. A little spot on the highway to the Pacific Ocean. Stopped at a Greek greasy spoon for breakfast. Has some mediocre food, pretty good coffee, lots of fun talk and a GREAT ride there and back. Tested out wife's new battery powered electric jacket (she gives it 2 thumbs up) our new and improved Sena bike to bike communications (also thumbs up) and my iPad Nano with enough tunes to ride cross country and never hear 2 songs twice. (not an Apple fan, but I likie) Great ride, Great friends, Great times. Suppose to get into the high 70s later in the week. Gotta Love it in So. Cal.

Sounds like my kinda day.

I know what you mean about the weather. It's pretty cold here (for us) right now, and supposed to be getting colder. 11* on Wed. (brrr)

Times like this almost make it seem worth trading no traffic for a lot of traffic & warm weather in SoCal where Screwball is. :)

I'm kind of fortunate Kevin, we are about 40 miles north of Los Angeles, and about 6 miles from the L.A. County line. We rarely get caught in any traffic. We can use secondary highways from here to the Pacific Ocean, about 45 miles, and be at ski resorts in less than 2 hours going the other way. We get about 1/2 the rain that Los Angeles gets, there are mountains in the way. With the exception of South or West, we have to go up 5000 feet to get out of this valley. There are canyon passes west to the ocean, and South to Los Angeles. Don't know if you want to call us isolated or sheltered....

That does sound like the best of both worlds! Just looked at a map and I can see you picked a great spot!

In my teens and 20's I used to run up to Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear...what a great ride that was from Orange and San Diego counties. Looks even better from where you are!
