Simple Question:

I have a trike frame with a transaxle out of a 1200 vw in it. I understand the 1200 transaxle wont take the 1600 power and I would like to know how much trouble it will be to put in an irs transaxle? This is a trike frame that only uses the trabnsaxle bolted into the frame.
Thanks,
Bob

i dont see why the early transaxle would be a problem. i have one with a 1600 on it .
a second one with a IRS and a 1300 on it the 1300 is a bit under powerbur still runs out fine for normal riding Its no interstate hot rod . but holds its own very well on the twisties. just watch your weight on the build

The problem would be the 4.375 R&P gears. Your top speed will be very limited Maybe more details of what and how the trike will be used. My old transaxle was marked as a IRS with 3.88 R&P. In reality it was converted over to a swing axle with 4.12 R&P with a .82 4th. You need to know for sure what you have before you start replacing things.
