I hope Big Bike is not a sponsor of this forum.
I bought Show Chrome part 52-653. It is a non lighted trunk handle.

Looks great. Got it installed. Part of the installation was to remove the inner liner of the trunk lid.
Which I did. Then drill holes and use rubber washers to attach to the trunk lid.
Worked great.
Then...
I went to reinstall the inner liner. OOPS.
The inner liner would not fit because of the screws that were installed to hold the handle on.
Called Big Bike parts. There response was that it was "inherent to the part". I could get some flat head screws and not use the rubber washers.
If I did that I could use some silicone to prevent leaks.

I was not a happy camper.
I eventually cut out a small part of the inner liner so the screws would fit into the new opening.

Basically the response of Big Bike Parts was, "Oh well. That's how it is. Work it out".
Am I wrong about being a little pissed about their attitude?

It doesn't sound like a very well designed product. I've been in the same boat, and have had to adapt parts to make them work. It is a pisser, but the choice is to return the part, or make it work. It's a lesson learned for sourcing future products.

You have every right to be upset, I know I sure would. When I decided I wanted a handle on my trunk lid I was told by a friend get the Honda one, it fit good and worked as it should. I went by his recommendation and he was right on the money, it fits and it just plain works.
