I want to go to a trike. I have an 02 with 45,000 miles on it. I know the bike and what's been done to it. Nothing major wrong with it but it is an 02.

I am debating with putting $15,000 in a 2013 trike kit on a 2002 wing? I know the bike is older but has many, many, many miles left in it for usre. It is much less expensive to use my machine vs buying a used 2007-2010 model.

Consider resale value as well. If you luv the bike and know you wanna keep it for the long haul....go for it! If you have a glimmer of upgrading to a newer model-I wouldn't do it. In my mind if the bike isn't worth close to the price of the conversion, I think it maybe an unwise decision. Just my opinion...yours may vary.:Shrug:

Although ABA makes a good point, I recently triked my '95 1500 with a 2012 MT kit. Bike is clean and runs like a top with 46k miles. On my "senior citizen" budget spending $13k (bottom line w/tax - drive away) was the way to go. Unless you have a "need" for the "latest and greatest", converting what you already have could be a good choice. Works for me. :)

With 45,000 miles, your bike has years ahead of great riding still. Unless you know of something wrong with it, I think you could trike it without worry. Whatever you decide, you will love the trike!

I triked my 2004 Wing with 60K on it and I'm glad I did. I virtually doubled the value of the bike and saved about 25K. Go for it. If you like the bike, you'll love it more with the "new rear end"

Go for it. Have a 96 triked out. only has 65,000 on it now, triked it in 2011 with 48000. Would not go for a newer one, as they will cost you much more than the 15000 for triking this one out. You love the bike? Keep it, trike it. You will love it more.

Rich we triked Pearl (1990 HondaSE/Motortrike Coupe/raked)at 52000 miles and have never regreted it.15000 to have it triked seems a little high to me.Good Luck RIDE SAFE

I triked my 02 GL1800 pearl orange with 68,000 on it. I looked at a lot of trikes for sale, mainly 08s to 2010. I had a guy test ride one for me in Russelville, AR. it was a 2010 CSC. He rode it then called me back with all the problems that it had. For me it was a no brainer, I new my bike that I have riding since Oct of 2004. I took about 20 some pictures of it to put it up for sale, that is when I decided which way to go. I went into the house told my wife I had found the bike for us to trike, and that it was sitting out in the driveway. I picked up May 21, 2013 in Salt Lake City. That pearl orange made the most beautiful trike that I ever saw. It was hard to believe that it was my bike. I spent $18,000 for and have never regretted it. I had a few things taken care of on the bike while they were triking it.
I haven't figured out how to a picture of it on here.l

I'm in full agreement with all of the other responses. You know your bike's history and at 45,000 miles, she's got a long life ahead of her. You'll be saving a huge amount of money not buying a newer wing along with the possibility of unforeseen issues with a bike that you have no history with.

My 05 has 44,000 on her and as far as I'm concerned, she'll be my last trike as I have no real need to upgrade. As with your situation, I've added all kinds of options and at this point I know she's mechanically sound. Why temp fate with a newer model.

Go for it, Springs around the corner!

TRIKE IT! You know your bike and the maintance that has been done. Your miles are not many at all. Also, you have an "02" that apparently hasn't had any ghost shifting problems that you may get in a newer bike.

Dollar wise good investment. Ride wise you'll be riding more.:pepper: That coming from a California rider. Lots of sun on side, not sure how much you all get. Riding in the rain is a lot less stress. Do it!
