For those who have the service manual is it worth it? I can do the fluid change with the owners manual so what extra do I get with the service manual? Thanks.

Got touring manual # 99483-12
trike supplement manual # 99601-12
trike parts manual # 99602-12

Good manuals to have if you do your own work. Those part numbers are for a 2012 triglide. I believe the sup number is the year. Maybe one of our sponsors can get them for you.

service manual

I think its worth it. especially to adjust your belt and align the rear end. How to remove the body ext. I removed the body on mine to change to the cannon mufflers. the dealer wanted three hours. I did it in less than an 1/2 hour. 6 bolts and a wife to help lift it off. be sure to tighten the bolts back up as per manual

Back in my youth I bought the service manuals for every car I've owned. Ditto motorcycles. Got quite a library in the garage. Even thought I'm old and gray and do very little service work on my vehicles, I still buy the manuals. Old Engineers don't die, they...... well, I don't know what they do. Just nice to know what the dealer is charging you for. Hell, you are dropping between 20 and 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS for a toy, what is another couple of bucks :D

Hi Matt. In the four months I've had my TG, by doing the work myself, I have saved 8 hours at $95 from H-D or $85 at the Indie. That paid for the LEDs that I just ordered. I'll put them on, too.

There is an amazing amount of maintenance and repair that looks complicated but is easy to do if you have the factory manuals. You not only save money, there is a great amount of satisfaction of doing the work yourself. I also got the parts manual when I got my FLHS. It gives HD's part number for every part on the ride, plus exploded view of how the parts go together. I also got the factory manual for the GW1800. That machine is orders of magnitude more complicated than the Harley, (Even the Rushmores are relatively simple compared to a lot of other motorcycles) but it did help on some maintenance, and it's nice to know what the dealer is up to when you go in for service.
