Senior Moment - Aborted Test Run

I am doing test runs that require the ambient temps to be the same on each run.

This afternoon I turned my ignition on to see what the ambient temp was. It was too high, figured I still had to wait a few hours for the temps to drop.

3 hours later I checked a different thermometer (on the side of the house), and it was just right (52*)

Got geared up, electric jacket, helmet, gloves, & went out to the TG. The ignition (along with the Nav and lights) was still on from 3 hours earlier.

I now know how long it takes to wear the battery down enough to not start! :laugh:

I ran an extension cord out, and hooked up the trickle charger. 4 hours later it was charged up and covered in ice...but she started up and I pulled her inside.

Will do the test run tomorrow.

Been there done that many times. I hook up the regular charger and start the bike then go for a ride. After about 30 min of run time it will start on it's own. I have learned that when I have to be somewhere at a set time to go out and see if the bike will start 1 hour early. I't Honda's fault for putting the key on the left side. On my Suzuki, I never had that problem 'cause the key was on the right and I never used the kill switch. My riding group is forever telling me my lights are on.

A couple weeks ago (just before our weekly lunch ride) a buddy of mine decided to air up his tires using an portable compressor running off his bike battery.. Bet you know where this is going.. YUP, got the tires aired up and then the engine would not crank. Guess who didn't make the lunch ride! :xszpv::xszpv:

Lately iv'e been having quite a few Senior Moments.. Just Yesterday i was headed down to my garage to get

I have been able to avoid that senior moment by making it a habit of turning the ignition switch on as the last thing I do when I get on the bike and turning it off as the first thing I do before I get off.

My senior moment came recently when doing an oil change. I was feeling pretty good about how efficient I am getting at finishing up quickly and without making a mess on the garage floor. Got on the bike and started it up to prime everything, when I realized that the lifter rattle was not going away. I looked down to see about 2 quarts of brand new oil on my very clean floor... I had forgotten to screw the new filter sitting in the middle of that puddle onto the engine! Needless to say, none of my riding group has heard about this!

BTW, Kevin, the new lights look great! I will be looking to add this to mine.

I stopped wearing chaps ever since i started putting my underwear over them....

Turns out doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses.. Psychologist at the University of Dust Rock New Mexico have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what is known as' an ''Event Boundary''' In your mind, Separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next.. Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank state for the new locale....
