Rough Riding Tri-Glide

on my 2011 tri glide, on rough roads, have a loud poping sound from rear end. could it be sway bar?

The 11 doesn't have a sway bar, If your getting a loud rapping sound when you hit a sharp bump, You might have the air shocks pumped too high, And they won't have enough rebound to cushion the bump.

I think by far that the most common problem with a rough ride is rear tire pressure, this holds true on both independant and straight axle trikes. I give a trike seminar early spring each year for the local HD shop. Rough ride is a common complaint that I follow up with a question on tire pressure.

Most folks still equate their rear tire pressure with what you would use in a car. I usually discuss using 16 - 20 lbs (I can't reccomend it, liabity issues) in the rear tires, I've actually run mine as low as 12 - 14 lbs but most people think I'm certifiable when I tell them that.

The other thing that I can't say is that I think you should throw away the stock HD shocks and replace then with a non-air, adjustable, coil over spring shock. I'm pretty familiar with those from my race car days and that's what I would use. It will take some fiddling around to get it where you want it but it's worth it.

You can get Arnott air shocks for just a little more,
I run 39 lbs front 20 in the rear, 25lbs in shocks, ride 2 up fully loaded, plus the wife's wheel chair all the time. All be it I don't own a Tri Glide but my Lehman is exactly the same thing.
Oh, I live in Arizona too!
Will be leaving for Glacier National Park the end of June.

Hello
On my 2010 HD FLXXX Street Glide Trike I installed the Arnott 13" air shocks that come with a adjustable 11 way setting for damping. I can adjust my air pressure as I ride. I have a air pressure gauge mounted on my handle bars.I changed the rear shock plates so the shocks ride higher and back a little bit.I also installed the Progressive Monotube suspension in my front forks that helps the ride and also front end dive. This has made a GREAT improvement in ride & handling. I like the straight axle because of handling & low maintenance.
Good day

I just bought a 2005 Ultra with the Lehman conversion. The stock HD pipes hit the asphalt as I drive up or down my driveway, which is pretty steep. I can minimize it to some degree by entering or leaving the driveway at an angle, but it doesn't always work.
How can I tell if my trike has an air adjustble shock or was that an optional device, other than getting under and looking? Is there a remote filling valve like they used to have on cars?
Where can I find a "lift" device to raise the rear of the trike?
Thanks in advance.

Been to AZ before and you guys have great roads. Come to Indiana where the roads are all messed up from the salt. Pot holes etc. All they do is patch them so it makes them ruff as hell. Or they put down chip and seal which only throws rocks everywhere. Ill trade you anytime.
Try Hellinois roads, completeđź’©
