Even as a child, long before the sport of drag racing entered his life, Gaspar Ronda went by the nickname “Gas.” One of Ford’s factory Thunderbolt racers and an early driver of altered-wheelbase “Funny Cars,” Gas Ronda died at his Palm Desert home on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at age 91.
