The north side of Lake Superior through Ontario is nice. We are heading to Niagara Falls the end of July and going through Ontario and then back through Michigan and the SS Badger across Lake Michigan back to our home in Wisconsin. Some ideas for you.

Oh I would advise to go back through the UP.

You have-White Fish pte, Tahquamenon Falls,Copper Harbor, pictured rock cruise, Soo Locks etc.. just tons of great things to see and do.

I would reccomend you go to Pure Michigan Travel and Tourism Information

A circle tour is something to consider. There is so many places to see and do its just too much to list.

From Mackinaw City take 119 on the west side from Cross village to Petosky. Then take 31 to Traverse City. A good place to spend the night. Take 22 along the lake shore to Manistee. This is some of the best bike riding in the state. While your in Mackinaw City a ferry boat ride to Mackinaw Island is a must. Horses only, no cars.
It's 1900 everyday on the island. Take a carriage ride see the govenors mansion and old forts. Good idea to have reservations in Northern Michigan in the summer.
