I replaced my airbags on my 2006 GW 1800 Motor Trike. I changed out the under sized plastic top and bottom airbags with a more robust metal top and bottom airbags. I also swapped out the plastic fittings and small plastic line for 1/4 pneumatic air line and NPT brass fittings. The difference is enormous especially when Kathy and I are both on it. I currently have 25 pounds in the air system which is too much for just a single rider but is great for the two of us. If you are currently fighting a leaking airbag system it is worth the time, money and effort to correct it as it has made my ride totally different for the best.

sweet. I think if you play with the pressure just when your on by yourself. you'll find that sweet spot.
really make a huge difference when you reset the coil shocks to their lowest setting and let the airbags do what they were meant to do.

I agree on the shock settings. The previous owner had tried to make up for the air bags by cranking down on the shocks. I now have them on the second notch instead to the last notch and can already tell a big difference. I'm going to take out some more air pressure looking for that solo sweet spot.

I am getting ready to replace mine. Which bag did you go with?

I replaced a friends air bags (Motor Trike calls them air springs) with one from this company. http://www.airbagit.com/Air-Springs-...a-800-long.htm They appear to be the exact same ones Bill used for less $$.. :xszpv::xszpv: I have to agree with the difference in ride. What a HUGE change!!!ThumbUp

I believe those are the same air bags. I can't tell for sure as I bought mine from a forum member who had an extra set. The link I listed is what was posted in an earlier thread on the forum. They look identical at a great price. Good luck with your project.

Looks like the cheaper one charges for shipping and the higher one has free shipping, So they get you either way you go. looks like I can pay shipping with UPS and save 26 dollars and change and the bags appear to be exactly alike.

the bags are exactly alike. because x2 industries gets the bags from airbaggit. so how do I know this. this past spring I was fighting and airleak and could not find it. took the whole air system off the trike. lines, fittings and bags.

dunked them in a bucket of water and found the air leak. it was leaking around the crimp ring on the bottom of one air bag.

called x2 and sent them a video and photos. but was told that they could not warrentee them because they were a year old. was also told that they sent the photos to the place where they buy the bags from.

I inquired and was told airbaggit. so it doesn't matter which dealer you get them from they are the same bags.

This is great information for those just starting the research process in order to change their airbags or to fix an air leak. The search feature here at TT has been very helpful to me in learning about my GW Motor Trike and sourcing parts and services.

Report on airbag install

Just replaced the air bags on my Motortrike, What a difference. Wife is extremely happy and you know what they say about Happy Wife. I ordered the ones from http://www.airbagit.com/product-p/baga-800-long.htm, Got them in three days but when I got them installed they would not air up. The threaded nipple on one bag was cracked, Called airbagit and explained the situation and they sent me another bag, no questions asked. Very happy with customer service. Im running 30# with two up with the shocks set on lowest setting, Rode 200 mi. Sun. and felt great, Lot more cushion in the ride. Still experimenting with setting for one up but very pleased with the upgrade.
