Name
Eddie
After 35yrs at GE Aviation, I retired April 1 2014, My wife and I sold our home in Oregonia, Ohio and all our worldly goods (except the TriGlide), loaded up the Toyhauler and left Ohio April 29 and headed south, first stop was Pigeon Forge, Tenn. spent the night there then on to Savannah, Ga. Where we stayed another night before preceding to Daytona Beach, Florida, we arrived at the International RV Park on May 1st ( it's 4 mile west of the start/finish line at Daytona International Speedway) we're planning on spending the summer here and see how we adapt to the weather, if things don't work out we will venture to some other parts of our great nation, I believe I'm going to adjust to retirement just fine.

CONGRATULATION EDDIE !!!! I hope you find enough good riding to stay busy.. Maybe some of our members will come show you guys around the state. Enjoy the time off.... :xszpv: :xszpv:

Welcome to the Sunshine !! There are several of us on Trike Talk that live here in central Florida and ride with each other numerous times a year. We even have a few going out to Eureka Springs, Ar for the June trike rally and the Vermont rally in Aug. You might even wan to join us for the trip.

Been to Florida - too many bugs, too much heat, too many really old people operating great American land barges (that shouldn't be), and far, far, far too much humidity. Enjoy your retirement - I'm BORED in mine and looking for work.

Congrats on the retirerment, I was raised in Daytona and living in Deltona (15 miles west) if you have any questions on the area give me a yell.

Your right I might just like it here, who knows until you do it, I know for sure I like being retired. Just going to enjoy life.
Congratulations on the BIG decision to sell all and take to the road - it's your retirement and time flies so enjoy every day!

Its a big country and there's plenty of fine RV parks if Florida doesn't pan out. Winter in southern AZ is a bikers dream - usually dry, plenty of roads and pleasant riding weather. Then head up to Alaska for a great Summer - RVing up there is very doable!

You have a great time down here. We are packing up after being down here for 13 years and heading to Wisconsin for good. All our kids and relatives live in Florida as I am originally from Florida. Too many people down here and they just keep coming. Heading to the Nicolet National Forest area. :)

The Nicolet National Forest is a fantastic part of the country - you'll definitely be enjoying four seasons and all that has to offer - fishing, hunting, plenty of scenic triking roads and the list goes on!

And if the family wants to visit, they'll need to take a road trip! :):)

Enjoy the move!

Congrats on your retirement Eddie, You will love it, Just slow down and take time to enjoy everything cause theres no rush now. We recently bought a mobile in Fl. over on the Gulf side at Port Charlotte, Took the trike down last winter and really loved it. Plan on spending our winters there and get out of these long cold winters.

ThumbUpCONGRATS EDDIE. Take it easy and enjoy the next part of your life. Stay busy and have fun doing it. We thought about FLA to retire to. But I hate all that humid weather. Plus We don't like the Hurricanes either :cxtv:.. We decided on Surprise , Az. for our retirement. But it all boils down to where your comfortable. Enjoy the ride:Trike1:

Eddie, I was reading your stuff over on HTT, too I believe. Before retiring to Ocala Florida we lived just inside the I-275 loop on the NW side in Northgate. At that time I was working in Reading not too far from where you were working with GE if you were at the Shepard Way and I-75 plant.

My wife is a beachaholic so we ride over to Daytona on a fairly regular basis. If you find Daytona is too pricy for you we are 90 miles west in Ocala in a small community called Marion landing. It's an extremely friendly community with all the traditional amenities: pool, tennis courts, gym, plus our own bowling alley that's free to members of the community. It's part of your amenities that are $112/month and have been for the last 6 years. Crime is practically nonexistent and taxes are low. The only time anyone leaves here is if they die. We sure aren't going anywhere. A friend that lived across the street from us in Northgate came down to visit shortly after we moved in and really liked the place. They came down again about six months later and liked it so much they decided to stay. They now live 3 streets from our house.

In regard to hurricanes, I understand usually all we get is a lot of rain. We haven't been here for a really bad one yet. Being in the middle of the state helps.

Sorry so wordy. Daytona really is a pretty cool place, know why you'd like it there If you get a chance, give Hog Heaven (restaurant) a try for great Bar B Q. They're on a west corner of A1A but can't remember the cross street, not too far north of the track.

Hey Florida Eddie, how are you adjusting? Hope your doing fine. Told wife we should do what you have done. Got a one word answer, Nope. Good luck, keep it going!

Just retired myself (only from S. fla however) and moved to about 18 miles up US 1 from you. Look us up if you get to the Palm Coast/Bunnell area.

We're sticking it out so far, still at Daytona Beach, been to darn hot to do much riding at all unless you are rolling 60+mph! I'm putting the TriGlide up for sale, thinking about going back to two wheels.
