Last years new years resaloution was to quit smoking, next week it will be a year since I have had a cigarette. For this year I have two.
The first one is hoprfely they canget my lower back fixed so I am not in a lot of pain when I walk. Can just barely make it out to the mail box and back around 160 feet round trip. Then my next one is to start working on getting a lot of this weight off. I weigh almost 290 lbs and I barely stand five eight with my shoes on. When I was 40 years old my weight was 160 lbs, which is about right for me. So that means I need to lose around 130 lbs. Wish me luck I have a feeling I am going to need all the good luck I can get.:AGGHH::AGGHH::AGGHH::AGGHH:

I stopped smoking around 1970, Still get the urge to light one up. As far as loosing Weight, I really do wish you luck,When i stopped smoking i gained 35 pounds I go on a diet loose 30 pounds, And then it slowly comes back again. Sometimes it seems like i gain it back in one weekend.

Congrats on the year being smoke free. I quit March 27th, 1990 and I am thankful every day that I did quit. My New years resolution this year is to give up sex. I'm not sure I can be successful at that one.:D:D:D

I suspect that the weight loss will have a very positive effect on your lower back pain. My cousin in law was in the same boat, lost about 130 pounds and the back pain went away. Then he gained it back again and the back pain is back. I wish you a lot of luck. If you can quit smoking, you can loose the weight.

I have what is called spinal stanosis on two of my lower vertabrae.
What that is,is spur build up relating to artrightus which is puting pressure on the nerve thar runs down the center of the spine.
So far I have had two steriod shots, while they do help for a while the pain soon returns.
Going in the 16th of this month for another shot, but I am not holding out my hope.
I am afraid I am headed for surgey.
Have a friend who had something similar and he had surgrey.
Went in early in the morning came out that evening and went home.
Got up the next morning and drve to florida.
Has not had any pain since and that was about four years ago.
Think I will find out who his surgen was.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
