The prediction was for the bike to go around $16,000 to $20,000 which really is only about the actual retail value of the bike over in Europe. I saw a few comments on other forums that suggested the bike would go for a lot more if there was some connection to the Pope on the bike such as his signature.
Well I just saw it on the news. The bike went for $360,000 plus dollars to a phone bidder:Angel: (I hope they have his number). The bike did have the Pope's signature on the tank. The leather jacket went for $77,500. The Vatican is saying the money will be given to a group that operates soup kitchens and homeless shelters. Glad to hear it will be used to help others.
