Heard this bit of wisdom on the news on the car radio.

Apparently the US Forest Service is requested the idiots
visiting the Natl Parks quit taking selfies with the bears.
Apparently, it is DANGEROUS

Duh, YA THINK?

I'm not surprised. A few years ago I was riding through Yellowstone with a buddy and all of a sudden all traffic stopped. A ranger went speeding around us and we looked up ahead to see some guy, (with New York plates) leading his two young daughters up a hill with food in their hands approaching a brown bear. They were going to "feed it". The ranger chewed them out big time and told them to get out of there NOW.

Some folks that visit the West think it is one big petting zoo, and they get a real surprise. What is the old saying, "You can't fix stupid"....

I realize some people are not the brightest, but, give me a break!
I feel bad for the wild animals because they pay the price for the stupidity of some people.
Just like that commercial showing the guy feeding the lions, some people think they can do that and the lions won't hurt them!

Quite often I run into Bears while checking my game cameras, Upstate NY. [1300Ac.]
And I always carry a weapon, Not to shoot the Bear, But incase of an attack to shoot myself so I can end it quick and avoid a painful death.. ;);)

Speaking of idiots.......in 1972 I was on a long trip (7,500 miles, Canada and the west coast) on my 750 Honda (with ape hangers/sissy bar and stuff budgied off everywhere) that took me through Yellowstone National Park. I'm riding along and I see a bear, oh wow, a bear, I need to get a picture of it to show my friends back in Texas. So I stop, dig out my camera from one of my bags (old "film" type, or course), get it set up, look through the viewfinder, and I see that bear staring back at me....I'm thinking, he knows I'm here and I'm close (about 10yrds away) ..........then I think, if he wants me, he's got me! This fat boy got back on his 750 real quick, no picture, and I didn't even know where I put the camera until I stopped at the lodge and found it stuffed between bags!
I know there are plenty of those idiots out there.....because I was one of them!!!
Hopefully now in my old age, I'm a little smarter and think ahead.....cause I'm a whole lot slower now!
