How many folks here ride older trikes and face verious problems that come with riding these old-timers?
I ride a '94 Kaw. Vulcan 1500 with a Tow-Pac. No problems with the Tow-Pac; but various things have come up with riding an aging bike.
Clutch master cylinder starting to leak a little fluid, engine using a little oil between changes, various light bulbs burning out. Nothing serious yet; but just agrivating from time to time.

There's a lot of honor in keeping an old bike running beyond its years if you chose to. Won't Kawalski still work on a a '94? Could you, or you and a buddy handle a rebuild kit for the master cylinder? Ya could buy another Trike, that's the easy way. Or you could decide to buy a factory shop manual if you don't already have one and dive into the old girl and really develop an intimate relationship like you've never had before. Good luck

I probably will keep the oldgirl. She only had 19,000 miles on her when I got her 13 months ago, Got a little over 25,000 now. Runs and handles well. The clutch fluid problem should be an easy fix. The oil useage is minor at this point. A quart in 1500 plus miles doesn't worry me too much; just check it daily.
At my age (71), can't really justify dropping $25,000 on a new one and another used one would likely have more miles on it than mine and maybe bring more serious problems with it....besides that I've gotten kinda fond of my old timer.
I was just wondering how many other folks ride an older one and what problems they may have run into.
Minor repairs just add to it's personality. Just two old farts motorin on down the road....lol

1990 Goldwing triked in 2006. Runs good but has a few glitches now and again, nothing I can't or haven't dealt with before. Hydraulic fluids need changing, needs new belts and brushes in the alternator. I had Sierra Electronic add an aux input to the radio to be able to run the satellite radio thru. It still has plenty of life left in it.

My newest bike is a 1998 HD Fatboy. I got it last year with only 7xxx miles. It's in perfect condition. It is getting a DNA conversion next month. It might just be my last bike. I still have an old FLH shovelhead. If I want to ride 2 wheels. Luckily I can work on them myself but I am having a shop do the conversion just to make sure everything is right from the beginning. Anybody can have a new bike but there is just something special about riding an older model. :wave4:

102,000 on my Lehman conversion and the front universal joint worn out. First, it's a non grease able joint, second, it's peaned into the yoke so you can't just replace the u-joint, you have to replace the spline yoke AND the slip yoke too. The u-joint on the other end of the drive shaft is greaseable and replaceable. Why can't they make the front one grease able that way saving money on replacing yokes?
