I somehow lost the text on my first posting so apologies for the slightly mysterious nature !

i was on a long ride last month and had been having increasing pain in my wrist for weeks.

As I clutched to change down at one point I felt a "POP" and a agonising pain in my wrist. I found I was only able to clutch with my ring and little finger my thumb, index and middle finger were "paralysed".

I finally got got home and thought it might settle down after some ice and painkillers but by morning my wrist was like a balloon. so off to A&E.

i was convinced I had had snapped something somehow but had never heard of a spontaneous injury like that.

After X-rays it turns out I have severe tendonitis, the pop I felt was an inflammation of the tendon catching in a narrow part of the outer sheath and tearing slightly.

the good news is no surgery but a cast

The bad news is I can't ride, push my wheelchair or a few other unmentionable things for 6 to 8 weeks :-(

Boy, when it rains it pours!
Good luck my Friend and as they say, Stiiff upper lip!
I am sure in no time you will be able to do the things you did before and forget about the hardships which you are going through now!
Speedy recovery.

As has been stated before ..... OUCH :(

Good News is,,,, you can still Post and participate here ThumbUp
God Speed in a complete and total Recovery.

I'll toast to that!

I was very fortunate in the accident being the first trike. Most of the hardship happened behind us. My brother-in-law had his trike totaled with a bent frame. Mine had a scratch, but still cost $2900 to get fixed.
All worked well as we are taking a trip out West and won't be home anyway. The trike will be fixed and stored till we get home, then off we go to our NETT Rally in Vermont.
It is going to be great Rally, so far we have about 56 people attending.
My Friend you take care of your self, and try not to cause too much hardship on the Family, as you get better each day. Pay attention to your Doctor and do what he/she says. Don't push the rehab, take your time and get well SOON!

So Tinbasher, how good are you at using the other hand for the unmentionable jobs? Never thought you would have to be ambidextrous did you? I've had somewhat the same thing, but the swelling in my arms was just enough to hear the tendon work back and forth in the sheath, kinda like cable being pulled over a ledge. You could hear it. Had to have anti inflammatory for awhile. Thankfully it didn't get like yours, but I wish you luck. Definitely follow Dr's orders, if your arm gets injured again it may require surgery to repair. Do be careful.

Thanks everyone.

I'm glad you're ok Rosy, in the end trikes can be fixed.

Wing that's exactly how it started just like a sticky cable! I'm unable to take anti inflammatorys so couldn't head it off.

I'm seeing the ortho guy this afternoon, I've been in a cast 3 weeks so far and he said probably 6 to 8. The swelling has gone down a lot and it's a bit loose so I'll get a new cast or if I am very lucky a brace that I can take off for showering and "stuff".

Rosy I think you'll understand this but how shocking it is when you already have a disability, to discover how little a thing can make you more dependent on others!

Ride safe

Yes, I do understand, not quite your disability, but needed to depend on your love ones for help, and I am sure they will be there to help you in any way they can.
That's the beauty of love ones, their love is never ending!
Speedy recovery my Friend. Meantime, tinker with your ride to make it better, if possible.

Saw saw the ortho guy today and now have a removable brace which of course is very tempting to remove lol.

We are having a cracking summer so far with dry warm weather most of June and so far in July.

i have been adding a few bits here and there, USB power supply for charging phone, sat nav etc. Extra battery in parallel with the original to give the electric reverse a bit more juice.

Im working on a rack to fit some nice Givi soft cases I bought and I bought a trailer similar to the HF Tag Along (HF don't trade in the uk).

Oh and I slimed the tyres after two slow punctures that couldn't be found.
