Recently purchased the C50 trike from Harley Davidson. It's a Suzuki.

The dealership says the trike is an automatic, but the VL800 specs state it's a 5 speed.

Can anyone clarify if it's a true automatic, or do I need to switch gears using the clutch?

It may have an auto-clutch installed in it. I have done a number of these C-50's in the past. The gearbox is a 5 speed that needs to be shifted manually or remotely. The clutch, if it is an auto-clutch, is a centrifugal unit designed to engage the clutch as engine rpm's increase. You still have to take off in 1st gear or you will burn the clutch up.
