OK, I am confused about what type of kit is the best overall-maybe there is no concrete answer, but I keep going back and forth on this issue! Comparing Lehman to CSC, one is solid axel and one independant, is one better touring vs twisties and canyons, and are they different depending on the brand of bike? Also, I am a large rider-would one accomodate the load better over time? There are so many kits out there, and being new to this trike thing- I have to ask dumb questions like this to help me make the right decision. THANKS:Shrug::Shrug:

Re: Need advise

It's not a dumb question. But you are correct -- there is no right or wrong answer. Both have strong points, and it will come down to your personal riding style and preference. For myself, I chose the Champion solid suspension and have not regretted it for a moment--but I ride solo almost exclusively. I do love the handling in the twisties though.
  • For the driver, there is minimal difference in the ride, but if you carry a passenger much of the time, the independent suspension will be more smooth and comfy for that person.
  • While both trike kits handle well, the solid axle probably has a slight edge in the corners. However, once you are used to handling it you will have no problem with either one. They are both very stable and secure on the road. It takes a lot of unusually aggressive driving to lift a rear wheel!
  • In all honesty, the solid suspension likely has less maintenance and service requirements, but the major manufacturers have all knocked themselves out to have a safe and reliable product. I don't think that it has been a big issue for most of our IRS owners.

Re: Need advise

I had the solid axle Motor Trike Kit. Loved it.

Others have independent and love theirs too.

No right or wrong answer here (Nana is always right !!) but I would challenge anyone on the twisties with my solid axle. I think I could keep up with most as long as the TQ and HP were similar... except for Nana... that's like a flee weight riding in a NASACR... she'll blow the paint right off your tour pack.
