Asa group traveling very handy tool, much better than CB.

The Baofeng UV-5RA is a hand held transceiver providing 5 watts in the frequency range of 136-174 MHz and 400-480 MHz. It is a compact, economical HT that includes a special VHF receive band from 65 - 108 MHz which includes the regular FM broadcast band. Dual watch and dual reception is supported. You get up to 128 memories. Other features include: selectable wide/narrow, battery save function, VOX, DCS/CTCSS encode, key lock and built in flashlight. Selectable frequency steps include: 2.5, 5, 6.25, 10, 12.5 and 25 kHz. RF power may be selected at 4 or 1 watts. check it out. I am N5TKI ham tech.

If you are several, it is a good way to communicate. Range without a repeater is a few miles.

Then us Ham radio operators is used to use them. With repeater 75 or so miles.
My point was using a hand held on a bike, as in removing a hand from the grip to operate the radio and thinking how dangerous that would be?????
Or do you have a PTT on bike and a headset?

What kind of communication bike to bike, CB, ham?

My wife and I use a unit made by J & M. It's a handle mounted unit with CB, weather, intercom, and music compatibility with ear speakers in the helmet.

They, also, have blue tooth that mount on a helmet for bike to bike communication.

Check it out.

Sena SMH 5 or 10 has good bluetooth units no obtrusive mikes or wires of course. Very competitive price for bluetooth, can pair up with three bikes.
