took this picture in my back yard. its a diamond back python fighting with a giant fruit bat, aka flying fox.
the snake had climbed the palm trees around my pool to get to the bats that eat the berry things that grow on the palms. not sure how it got that high, as the palms are taller than the house which is 2 story. anyhow it got up there. bit the bat, who in turn bit the snake back. the snake then went about strangling the bat and the 2 fell from the palm hitting the pool fence. it took about 2 hours for the fight to end with the snake the winner. the snake then swallowed the bat whole. the bats wingspan would be about 5 foot.
last pic i took was the snake with its jaw dislocated and just half a wing and hand sticking out from its mouth.
nature is harsh, but interesting
