Mud flaps for the TriGlide

Has anyone seen the new mud flaps that Kuryakyn is offering for the TriGlide? They don't look too bad. I'm just worried that the chrome trim piece is a little too large / guady, but at least it covers the mounting holes.

The retail on them is $130 but you can find a number of on-line dealers selling them for less.

I read the instructions for them and it seems to me they would mount on any trike.

They look nice. I also like the simplicity of the HD version too.

Yes, the instructions look very straight forward and it seems that they can be mounted on other trikes.

What I'd like to know is the width of these mud flaps. It's possible that the fender width on other trikes may not be as wide as the Harley TriGlides.

I've got those order along with the light bar. The light bar is not available until May, so I should get my order in a few weeks

When you get the mud flaps, see if you can post what the width and height is. I'd appreciate it. ThumbUp

Rich - I talked with Kuryakyn and asked them about the measurements. They said the width is 9.75" and the height from bottom of flap to tip of chrome point is 7".

Got mine on order.

One of those flaps would look cool mounted to the front fender to keep crap from hitting the oil cooler. There you go Dennis, come up with a protective cover for the oil cooler. If you design one I will buy it for sure. I still want to get those wind deflectors. Getting back to the mud flaps. I have the HD ones. I installed a pair for a friend but did not like the mounting bolts showing. I was also worried that drilling holes in the fenders might start cracks in the fiberglass. So I used heavy duty 3-m tape to hold the flaps on & they are still on. I put them on 1yr. ago. Looks so much cleaner.

Thanks John. I'll measure my fenders this afternoon once I get home. If they'll fit, I'll order a set as well. ThumbUp

I wonder what the odds are that they would bolt on using the existing holes from the HD ones.

Supposedly they should line up with the existing bottom two bolts for the HD. You would still need to drill a hole for the top bolt. It was in the instructions.

I like them.. I don't like them. I'm just not a mud flap fan at heart..unless we're talking a 1972 Chevy custom van with bubble windows shag carpeting and a water bed. ThumbUp

The main reason I'm buying them is functionality. I was riding with some friends recently and they told me they could see and feel sand and debris being thrown up by my rear tires and kept a significant distance behind me as a result.

So I wanted to put mudflaps on the bike but did not want to live with exposed bolts heads on the fender as a result. I'm not the greatest fan of the Kuryakyn design but what sold me is that the bolts are covered. And I like the design of the rubber flaps themselves (with the chrome horizontal trim pieces) versus the plain painted logo on the HD flaps.

Mud guards not only prevent road debris from being thrown on rider's behind you, they help keep the rear of the Trike clean. I'm a big fan of Kuryakyn. I've had their grips and foot pegs on most of my bikes over the years and never had a problem. I'm using the set of Kury Longhorn foot pegs on my 2010 RK, I had on my 08 Ultra Classic. Still look new!

Well, I have to ask. Why would a Trike stir up any more road crap than a two wheeler? I follow two wheelers all the time and they follow me, and we all never have any problems or issues concerning this subject. I have heard before about Trikes throwing up more stuff, and have had my ridin' Buds behind me check it out, and they say there is no more crap than anyone else on 2 or 3 wheels, if any at all. Maybe someone can enlighten me about this. Thanks!!!!

I'm not sure, Trent. I can only relate what my friend told me. My guess is that the wider rear tires coupled with relatively low air pressure and soft rubber compound tend to "grab" more sand and gravel and fling it back to the rear as the tires rotate.

I'm not a tire engineer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

I have rode behind my hubby who rides a RK and got stuff sprayed on me in different areas of riding. He has also rode behind me and said the same. It was probably much worse when we were in FL, due to all the sand on the road. If you stay back far enough, it won't reach you. When we are riding I like to ride close enough to not let a car or another vehicle get between us.

Don't get me wrong... The "I like them" is that they are pretty cool looking the "I don't like them" is that I just don't think of mud flaps and motorcycles.
