OK every day i get closer to making up my mind on to which trike conversion to go with its been a big toss up between RS and MT and i am really leaning to the MT razor . I talked to a installer last Sat. and he seams like a real nice person and has a vary nice shop. e talked about the MT and one of my questions was about the rake kit MT only offers the 4.5 degree rake kit and when i asked him if he thought a 5.5 degree would make the steering easier he told me that you do not need a rake kit with the MT conversion. So please if you have a MT with the IRS set up could you chime in and let me know your true thoughts about going with a different set up for the rake kit or not . Thank you Ken

I don't own a MT w/IRS but the 4.5 degree is great for the straight axle model. I would suggest the 5.5 for the IRS though. JMHO:Shrug:

You might give Randy - PapaZook - a call and ask his opinion.

He owns this site, is a trike installer and the name of his company is Cut n Shoot Customs at Conroe TX.

I've got the 4.5* rake on my 2008 GW MT IRS Adventure kit. NO problemo with steering at all.

I believe the GW Roadsmith I once drove had a little more rake but I didn't drive it long enough really to tell the difference.

I have driven a trike without a rake - it literally was a pain in the shoulder blades. Carla

Howdy Ken. The 4.5 degree rake kit is plenty for the MT IRS. When I converted my '06 with the '10 MT IRS the installer gave me the same misinformation. Didn't take me long to realize the mistake and get the rake kit installed! Unless you have above average upper body strength I am positive you will benefit from the rake kit. The MT is a pretty short wheelbase conversion so yes it is less stress on the riders arms and shoulders but still is a very good option to choose. It's not cheap but worth it!!

A friend of mine likes to remind us that "Riding it supposed to be enjoyed - NOT Endured"...

Jerry.... isn’t your Roadsmith a 5+ rake?
