Motor Trike Wheels

In the process of having my first trike built. Anyone know what rear wheels will work on a "Motor Trike" kit? I want to stay with the 15 inch wheels but don't like the stock comes with the kit wheels and trying to save a few bucks.

I had good results dealing with www.summitracing.com when I changed wheels (chrome) and tires on our GL1200 about a year ago. There are many brands - mine happen to be Cragar Nomad II. At the time they were about $62 each, on SALE (including the chrome center hub). I have no idea what is, or is not, on sale now. You just need to know wheel diameter, width, backset and bolt pattern.

There was a modest shipping charge ($11.95) for everything and they arrived by FedEx in a few days.

I have no connection with Summit, just passing on what worked for me. ThumbUp

Also, although I have no idea what "standard" wheels might come with a kit for your bike, The "std" wheels that came with my "2012 MT Phoenix" kit (GL1500 - about 8 mo's ago)), I think look quite nice and have received many compliments.

Yes, I know some people like Fords, some people like Chevy's...

I used 85 Mustang, 7" wide x 15" mag wheels on my 85, GL1200 with 199? MotorTrike body which has a narrowed 85, Ford Ranger rear with 4 bolt pattern. See avatar.

Thanks for the information! The stock included with the kit wheels are aluminum. My front wheel is alum and black. I was trying to get a wheel with some black and chrome or black and aluminum. Was wondering if off the shelf auto wheels would work, I don't know what the bolt pattern is and if I have to wait till I get the kit with the stock wheels I will. I was hoping that someone here would know????

You might go to the Motortrike website if you haven't they offer different wheels for the kit. I bought mine from Discount Tire back in 2002, you can call Motortrike and ask for Richard and he can tell you the bolt pattern and rim width for the trike.
