just wondering if as an ageing group, are we riding more because we have more time (for those retired)

less because we have less time (mature, and responsible at work)

or are we about the same as any other group of riders.

for me im a 7 day a week rider. rain hail or shine.
i have had my trike for 8 months now and have clocked up 15,600 miles. over 7000 of that was done in the month we rode around the USA.
i was without the trike for 3 of the 8 months while it was shipped and made to comply with local laws.
i also have 2 other harleys and even though i have been favouring the trike (new toy novelty) i have also been clocking up miles on the others.
i guess i would do 30,000+ miles a year.
how about you...

Compared to you, I never ride. Although, my trike is not left in the garage more than three to five days a month. But it is all local riding and averages about 13000 per year. I am 73 and no longer take those long runs. Just ride for pleasure, wind in the face thing.:D:clapping: If I do more than 150 miles on any given day, it would be unusual. Sorry, no longer a long milage, just a pleasure milage.:):pepper:

I put about 10-12K miles a year on my trike, with half of that on road trips anywhere from 300 to 1500 miles at a time. Here in Florida, I can ride pretty much year around, and in my area I'm not more than a mile or two from stores and restaurants.

Retired, so no regular commuting except for some volunteer work. Have a car in the garage, but it sees maybe 1,500 miles a year to carry supplies that are too big for the bike.

20k would be a normal year for me. Most years. This one is an exception. Bad 2-wheel accident last Aug cut down on 4 months of serious riding. I'll be lucky to hit 10k this year. Full time work also.

Between work and everything else, I average about 5k a year. But each year, weather permitting, the trike gets used more and more for general transportation. This is due partially to the fact that every year, I have less and less work to do it as it gets nearer to "completion". So I hope to ride even more this year and in the years to come.

There's a reason "smiles" rhymes with "miles"... :D

A lot depends upon weather and amount of PGR missions I received. If bad weather, then of course I ride less. And if I don't get PGR missions then generally the miles I put on are less.

I average about 20,000 miles a year. This winter I have not put many miles on however. Trike was being repaired after the collision with Jane Doe (deer) and the weather has not been the greatest in Florida this winter. Lot of rain and cold. We are able to ride year round that helps that total.:)

About 12 k a year, And crazy as this sounds,
I haven't gone more than 250 miles on any one trip.

My biggest year on 2 wheels, was 31,000 miles which included a 7,500 miles trip to Canada and Mexico, but that was also when I was much younger. Just got my trike the first of February so this will be my first year as a trike rider, check with me next year.

Our mileage has increased as time goes by
I am a WARM weather rider,
(makes HER happy also)
so my mileage is a bit less
With the run to Sturgis, we rode
about 6k last year in 6 months

Bought my 2 wheel wing in November of 2010. Riding season is pretty much over in Massachusetts that time of year. From 2011 to July of 2013 I put on 9,000 miles. Got my bike triked in july and put on 4,000 miles between then and October. 400 miles in the past 2 weekends since I've moved it back into my garage for riding season. Still working full time or I'd ride it more.

5-10 thousand miles per year 2 or 3 wheels. ride when ever I can and a big trip some where south in the early fall ( after every one else are done with the vacation season and their kids are back in school.)

About 15000 mi per year. Not much commuting any more, but sometimes. Mostly fun trips local and long distance. Two accidents in 2011 have slowed down my mileage.

Last year I did 12,000 on the trike and about 1000 on the 2 wheeler. Time to sell the Harley 2 wheeler. Used to ride about 13,000 a year with 60% Wing and 40% Harley. Since I now have a trike I hardly ride the 2 wheeler. Just got a new Wing with a new Hannigan kit, (well, almost new) and plan to ride about 14,000 this year.

I haven't kept a record of mileage but when I do go out for a weekend ride it turns into about 300 miles. In NH our riding season is very short and if we have a bad summer, then it is even shorter.
Janice retired last March so this year we should put some miles on, but it seems like something is always coming up to get us away from the trike. We make sure we go to the NETT Rally in August, that's a must. Americade is another bucket list on a trike, we did it on our Wings for several years, but not on the trike.
We did take some rides to DC area, which was about 12 hours in the saddle.
Maybe next year, we will be going to Canada on a trip. We are going to talk about it at the Rally to see who may want to go. We did the Cabot Trail on our Wing, but not the trike. Great ride and the scenery is wonderful.
Maybe we will start local and go to Montreal or Quebec City on our first trip. We'll see.
Miles may come and miles may go, just remember to smile as you ride!

:pepper:Hi Jeff - Well I'm back on the road and took my first road trip of the year. 2500 miles from Chicago to the La State Hog Rally in Lafayette. This is a big improvement over the 2.5K I rode the last 2 years, what with Mary's Cancer, and passing. We used to average between 12 - 15K yearly with our personal best of 17K the year she retired. ( I promised her I would take her to all the places she hadn't seen. ) I have a trip planned to visit Montana in August and see Glacier again. So this year should be about 15K My best to you and Elise - Russ ThumbUp

Least Motorcycle/Scooter/Trike miles I've ridden was my first (1970/14,000 miles)...the most was 2009, over 42,000...all of the other years were 25,000 (last year) to 38,000.....I've averaged about 30,000 miles per year for the last 44 years of riding Motorcycles....this year will be much less due to Mitzie's Job change, my solo running of Our Family Business and my Mom being in a nursing home now......"but"......I will get in as many miles as possible.....ThumbUp :10:

its all good, what really matters is that you enjoy the miles you do. smiling is never bad for your health

""smiling is never bad for your health""

I don't know about that ... think 'big bugs' at 60 plus mph. We're talking caps and crowns and stuff!!!

When I rode the two wheeler to work as well as for pleasure; about 6,000 miles a year. Since I'm retired, about 4,000 miles a year. Never did long distance rides. Most are below 250 miles. Ride daily when weather permits, and plan on continuing for a long while.

Only average about 8 a year. Only 2,000 when it was only 2 wheeler. Now have 2 with 2 And one with 3. I commute with the 2 wheelers about 500 miles each a year total. And about 2,000 to 4,000 with the trike . With health issues in the family long overnight trips are very hard to do. We are doing the Aug TT rally, but because of the distance , it will screw up Honey for a month or more.

Been ridin for 48 yrs an have a total miles of 1.81 million miles or like 37,000 average per yr. My high year was in 2011 with 103,243 miles an second best yrs was 2010 with 73,284 miles an that was by 2 wheels. Still love to ride. Heading to TX next week for nine days. on a Roadsmith now. Hisst
