Is it possible to install a cam in a 2018 M8 without clipping the push rods? I'm guessing that the only way is to pull the heads. If I clip the push rods is the function of the new tubes any less efficient that the stock setup?

You have a compound question with some varied answers

If you are installing a cam compatible with stock ( non adjustable pushrods) you will need to pull the rocker covers and rockers

If you want adjustables you can cut your old pushrods out and use compatible ( to your cam) adjustable pushrods

Jims has a new designed pushrod tube set up for M8 engines and tappet blocks designed to make adjustments easier, take a look here
