Trikes usually don’t have much storage/loading space. Sometimes we don’t want to tow our trailers. So a simple easy to attach luggage rack is what’s required.

My design needs a towball- that’s all.

In Oz you can buy a bicycle rack that clamps to the tow ball. The clamping mechanism is most important for a secure load. This type clamps by using a large lever then its tightened further with a knob. You need to cut it down to size from the top.

The rack when not in use can be made to fold up. There is available a step unit that hangs onto a 4 wheel drive wheel to enable you to step up and reach items on the vehicle roof. I purchased one of these then turned it upside down and used two bolts to attach it to the “V” shaped lever frame.

The unit allows for a large sports bag of two small suitcases. I’ve had 80 lbs on it for 2500 miles and haven’t had a problem. I do use a safety strap with ratchet just in case but it just doesn’t budge.
