Burt & Jupiter, Fl
Sara and I lived some 21 years in the Jupiter, Fl area, Burt's base of operations for most of his life. Burt's father and Burt had a country farm store in Jupiter Farms, west of Jupiter, FL. You could go there and run into Burt or his father, and his father was a lot of fun. Some of Burt's movies were filmed in Florida, like the elephant they were transporting in one of his bandit movies is shown at Lion Country Safari west of West Palm Beach, FL. One of the office buildings in West Palm Beach had all the windows on an upper floor removed so they could post a helicopter outside the suite for a video shoot. The draw bridge where the bandit jumped over the inter-coastal waterway was in Jupiter, and I've gone over it hundreds of times before it was replaced. Burt had a small museum in Jupiter with all sorts of goodies from his various movies, including one of the Pontiac Fire Birds he used in the bandit movies. Burt had restaurants in the North Palm Beach and West Palm Beach areas, but his manager absconded with the funds and did a job on Burt financially. Burt lived in an expensive house on Jupiter Island, I saw him at the mansions main gate a few years ago and he looked nothing like he used to look when he was younger, he had shrunk in size and looked many years older than he actually was.
