I stopped by an independent HD mechanic yesterday. While there I mentioned that I have a lift kit that I am planning on installing in a few days. He says to me that if I put it on it will throw the rake off and that the drive belt will need to be adjusted. Then he says that he has never personally installed one. But did manage to put a little doubt in my mind. Any comments from anyone that has installed a lift kit will be appreciated Thanks in advance.

I put the lift kit on my 2011 Tri-Glide in 2011 and traded it in with 46 thousand miles and never had to adjust the belt......

I installed a lift kit 20,000 miles ago and the belt has never need adjustment! I take to another mechanic that knows what he is talking about.

He is correct, it will change the rake. That is what makes the steering easier.

However, he is incorrect on the belt. It will not need to be adjusted.

Here is a write up, with diagrams, LINK on how it changes the rake, and why that makes for easier steering.

Also, if you are installing a Convertible Comfort Lift™ kit, it will additionally make for a bit plusher of a ride.

Some two wheel guys just don't know

I have had zero issues with our trike with the lift installed, more issues with factory alignment than anything else LOL... Install the lift you will not regret it. :good: Travel safe Fred

Thanks to all who answered my concerns. Will be installing lift kit next week when I will have more time available. Thanks for putting my concerns to rest. Great site and members and thanks again. Ride on, ride long, ride safe!
