LED Lightbar

Dear CSC:

I have a 2015 Cobra XL kit on my 2010 Goldwing and have the LED lightbar option. I'm now on my 3rd light replacement in less than 2 years and about 10,000 miles. The first 2 were covered under warranty but I'm being told this time I'm on my own.

My installer says CSC told him there is a bad diode on the circuit board that causes these lights to intermittently go on and off.

New LED inserts from you guys are $100 apiece and my installer--who is 100 miles away--will charge a couple of hours labor to take the lightbar off to replace the lights.

I'd like to know what CSC can do to remedy this. I know this is an on-going issue for other owners as well.

Thanks.

I also have a lightbar and have gone through 3 sets of lights in the last few years. They go dull and then off. They do not continue to burn brightly. It is such a pain in the arse taking the bar off and on.

This the last time I do this and will replace with better lights.

I must say though that CSC have given me the last set of light free but had to pay shipping which was a killer;)

I've also had issues with the LED's burning out quickly.. Called CSC and they said they has changed distributers and sent me 2 new light strips.. when they arrived .. they were identical to the old ones and after replacing both strips (took me about a week to do as I just had hip surgery)... one of the strips went out in less than 2 weeks..

I have had the same issue, replaced mine twice, have just received the left light from CSC, putting in in next week. This is the last time I am going to replace them, if they go out again I am going to trash the light bar and have the mounting holes repaired and painted.

I was thinking about ordering a set of the LED's for my 2012 Goldwing Viper. I think after reading this tread I'll put my order on hold until I hear a response from CSC. The LED's cost over 600 dollars per set so they should be top notch shouldn't they?

Bill

The viper uses different lights than the Cobra, you should be okay with the Viper lights.

Hello CSC Owners and interested Trike Talk members,

I just wanted to let you know that CSC is going to try and make an effort to respond to posts on Trike Talk as often as we can. Since we don't actually have a marketing dept we will use various employees to answer in their areas of expertise as needed and try to be as helpful as possible.

I have chosen this topic as our first official response simply because it was at the top of the list. I will try to work on the others as time allows and I learn the ins and outs of the forum.

I regards to the Cobra Light bar here is some info just as an FYI

1. This option was first offered around the end of 2006.

2. We have not sold this product or offered it as a new option for about a year now. All products have a lifecycle and it had simply run its course.

3. Over the years that we offered it we updated the LED's a couple of times.

4. We will continue to sell parts and continue to service these lightbars for as long as practical.

5. We test 100% of all our lightbars before they leave the building.

6. Yes the Viper LEDs are different and are made by a different manufacturer.

7. Our warranty on lighting is typically 1 year from purchase.

Early last year unknown to us we received a few boards from our supplier with a bad component. They are mixed in with the good boards and are impossible to distinguish from the bad. They will even test as good and do not fail until they have been in use for many hours. These have been replaced by a newer version see picture below.

If you look at the upper left portion of the picture you will see that there is a round blue component. This indicates that it is the latest and greatest version. In every other way it looks exactly like the earlier version and they are made by the same supplier. These were delivered to us early this year.

If you have a failure with your light bar you will receive this new version as a replacement. As far as I know we have not had any of these fail.

What we can offer is to extend the warranty on these lights to 5 years. If your kit is 5 years old or newer we will replace the parts for free.

I hope this helps, and if you order these please mention Trike Talk.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Thank you CSC for replying to the many questions and unhappy trikers. I myself have spent many hundreds of dollars getting these lights and I hope that I have the new ones as in the photo..as it is a pain in the butt taking the bar on and off and sealing them. Lets see if these new lights are the business. I still believe that the CSC kit is the best to throw around the mountains and for stability.....:clapping:

To Follow Up

I called CSC today and Shaun in Tech Support agreed to send me 2 of the new LED lights under warranty. I'll be happy to pay the labor to have them installed if this ends the on-going issue.

Thanks to Shaun and CSC for building a great kit and working with us to resolve any issues. Overall I'm extremely happy with my trike and plan to ride it for many years to come.ThumbUp
