LA Fires

Those fires are all over our local and world news, devastation everywhere, now there seems to be some back story that involved arsonists.

As being a first responder for 40 yrs , brush fires are the worst case to contain and control . There will always be the BLAME game ! You can plan in any way possable to try to avoid any disaster from happening . However no one can predict what way the wind will blow , or any pre weather conditions .

However, you can predict if there has been any firebreaks or forest floor debris cleanup to stop or slow down a natural fire, or if there's any water at the hydrants, if anyone is in charge of the fire department, if the vice-mayor will be in Ghana at a dedication instead of being in charge at her office because the mayor has been suspended on multiple corruption charges. I think it's a reasonable assumption that much of this could have been mitigated. Sorry, haven't had my coffee yet.

And in the middle of this disaster, the mayor fires the fire chief for telling the truth. This mayor should be held accountable along with the governor.

The mayor has decided not to fire the chief "yet"
It seems she fears some fallout.
After hearing what the chief had to say, the mayor is the one who should be fired.

They all should be removed and the governor impeached, Aunt Nancy may be unhappy about that. I had seen sky view footage on the news of the reservoir being bone dry, reports of hydrants not working and a lack of equipment. Residents have posted footage on X and Facebook too.

I (often) have weird thoughts, and I've had a few about the LA disaster. One is that I wonder how many of the very wealthy Hollyweird elite are contributing lots of money to help their burned-out neighbors (and them selves). There is literally no such thing as a sub-million dollar home in this area. Yet, the TV is full of people asking for contributions to help the California millionaires in their time of need. I'm not saying that I'm happy to see anyone lose their home. I've read where a lot of these people have self insured and not had homeowners insurance. Their choice, their risk. Guess I'm just having a hard time sending money to millionaires who are suddenly finding themselves on the losing side of the risks they took when they decided to live in the luxury they enjoyed.

...and with the decisions of the politicians they voted for...

A quick follow-up to my previous post..... The most devastated area is Pacific Palisades where the AVERAGE home value WAS 3.5 Million. I have a very hard time convincing myself that I need to help contribute to rebuilding homes for those folks. What I can get behind is helping the first responders and the people who have lost businesses in the area.

I don't care how you feel about the rich in Ca ( fires) or the folks in NC, TN ( Helene) let's think about helping our own people. Real easy, give the money to our people instead of Ukraine. Let's fix US.

One more thing. No more money to Ukraine until every U.S. Homeless Veteran has a warm place to sleep, and food to eat.

Does anyone realize that LA is hosting the 2028 Olympics? Middle class people where also affected by the fire, not just the rich. There is failure all around, from the local level right up to the governor and probably the federal government. Common sense was nowhere to be found, why would they drain the reservoir bone dry and not refill it? Why is the governor interested in protecting a Smelt and not the people? Why was dry brush not cleared out of the forest? Why were power lines not shut down? Why did they not clear tree branches away from power line? This fire looks similar to the Maui/Lahina fire. Why months earlier did people get insurance cancellation notices?
There are a lot of unanswered 'Why's'.

Most of the issues with smelt, brush and clearing was based on screams from environmentalists, and the governor wanting to look good to the leftists. California had told the insurance companies they had to cap the insurance premiums, so once again leftists ideology has failed the people.

So many rumors on nc, now cali

Of why, what, what could have been, ect. It is frustrating hearing bs, not knowing truth.
My heart goes out, seen pleanty of destroyed hot rods. Bikes, houses. Lives.
I don't see nc, as being preventable. (Easily)
But some questions on HI
And alot on cali
I see alot of lumber shortages, in the near future. Concrete, ect. And a construction boom. Not in the positive way tho
