Kury pass pegs on a Roadsmith

I bought a set of the Kury pass pegs (see photo) for my wife to use on our Roadsmith. She loved having them on our old CSC.

I bought a set and when I tried to install them they don't clear the top of the fiberglass on the aqua shields.

Has anyone else run into this problem ? If so, how did you deal with it ?

Do they sit so low they are hitting the running boards?

there is a adjustment to raise the foot peg and arm, will it not raise it enough?

A friend of mine had the same problem on his Roadsmith. I was going to put them on my Hannigan and after looking it over well I don't think they will fit it either so didn't make the investment. If anybody has them on a Hannigan I would like to know.

I sent mine back for a refund as I wasn't grinding down the Aqua Shields and went back to stock mini boards.

There is no adjustment for the pass floorboards.

I am going to look at machining off the lower part of the mounting arm. They are grossly over engineered for their purpose and I don't think taking off some of the material on the bottom will have any adverse effect.

Whatever I do I will report back to let everyone know.

I wouldn't go to these lengths to fit these but my wife loves them and you know the saying - when the wife is happy . . .

Not the floorboards. There is a set screw on the cruise peg arm. It will push the arm upward which will raise the peg. I don't have a set, I checked the instructions.
any one got a photo showing where they hit?

The interference is on the bottom of the mounting arm where it attaches to the stock floorboards.

The bolts that go into the frame holes are about a half a bolt diameter (maybe 3mm) from going in because it hits the fiberglass on the top of the aqua shields - so it's not that much but certainly a challenge at this point.

I will be looking and measuring many times before any cuts are made.

I built this myself, so I think a can handle this little problem.ThumbUp

I have adjustable passenger floorboards on mine. I guess anyone who would like to have adjustable passenger floorboards can have them.

Like a wise man once said happy wife happy life.

OK, here is the the (my) solution. The squeamish may want to look away !:AGGHH:

I checked how much trimming was needed on the fiberglass. It's not much - maybe 3/8" in the front tapering to a 1/4" in the rear - but you can't get the lower part of the Kury mounts on without taking some off.

I measured the area and outlined the area that needed to be removed. Don't worry about the crooked looking line - I was just getting the actual profile of the lower mount. I straightened it out before cutting.

I used a Dremel with a cutoff wheel and it worked great with the fiberglass. By the way - hats off to Roadsmith ! The glass was VERY thick even up to the edge.

Here is a look at what needs to be trimmed.

Let the trimming begin ! You can see the trimmed part on the blanket.

It fit in perfectly.

Not much trimmed away

Done and done. I am going to radius the edges a bit - but that's just me. I was worried about burning the paint at the cut but I didn't even have to touch up anything. The cuts were made vertically so there is not visible edge of the cuts.

I'm happy, my wife beside herself now that she has "her" pegs on the new beast.

It was an hour job start to finish on the first side and maybe 20 minutes on the second - after the fear of the first cut goes way it's a snap.
