Hey Guys looking for a little help. Recently was going to buy a set of Ergo 2s. Dealer gave me a great price and free install. When they tried to install

the left peg there was not enough clearance for the top part of the bracket to fit between the bar and the valve cover. The right side had plenty of clearance. The Bar does not seem to be bent but sits too close to the valve cover. Has anyone had this issue? Thought about removing the valve cover to install but I'm afraid the peg would be at a high angle due to less clearance. Hate to spend a bunch of money if they would not be correct. Is there a way to adjust the crash bar??

Those are exactly the same as I have on my 2015 Roadsmith HTS1800.

Had no problem at all get them mounted.

When you solve the mystery please post some feedback.

Might help someone out down the road. :xszpv: :xszpv:

I do know what I'm doing! The case saver is sitting too close to the valve cover
to allow the top part of the bracket to slide through.

Bill I just don't know. Never heard of that issue with a GL1800. I'd bet you have a bent crash bar. That would be interesting to say the least.... Hope you get it fixed. :xszpv::xszpv:

As I recall, when I installed mine....there was not as much clearance on the left side as there was on the right but did have enough room for the install

If I remember correctly like Scarecrow said, I found an area where it was barely wide enough an slide it over to where I wanted to tighten it down.... I used a mini board but the same brackets. Not very close pictures sorry....

I may have even loosen up the front crash bar to gain more access..... once it was on and started I made sure when the bar was re-tightened it wasn't touching.... mines a 2003

Isn't it odd/strange/funny how much variety we've had in this..... All three 1800s I've owned had no problem with mount clearance but obviously some of us have had/are having issues. Such a simple piece of steel. I'm surprised there is any variation at all... :xszpv: :xszpv:

I would not have thought so either but when I installed those mini boards (AS A BIKE) I thought maybe something had been put on at the factory wrong.. but nope all the holes lined up just needed to be loosened so they would wiggle a little... and that did the trick!! Never thought about it again..... I was done !!

Thanks for the reply's Guys. I am going to pull the case saver to figure why the one side is so close to the valve cover. Pegs are going on one way or the other.

My brother had the same problem on his, it is a GL1500 though. He found that the side that was too close was actually bent slightly. He made and "adjustment:Shrug:" and things worked fine after that.
Good luck
Kent
