January Ride

Went riding yesterday here in eastern NC in 57 degree weather with a slight drizzle of rain. Nice ride though. Found this old store. Took a photo and played with it. Ya'll have a good un

Good on you! I left Virginia for Florida so we could ride year round. Rode over to dealers for HOG meeting then after a short ride went home so my child bride could get her sporty out then took a longer ride. Temp's here in the 70s mostly and the sun is hotter than up north - a plus in winter but a bummer in summer.

Space Coast H-D has rentals by the day weekend or week and I assume others do too. For those who are freezing, come on down and rent a trike/bike and then ride down to the keys and back. I plan to spend some time up north this summer.

We (or I should say me) did our annual "Freeze Your Ass Off" ride on Jan. 1st. Usually have around 6 to 10 riders each year - I guess it was too cold for them this year.

24* and cloudy - but dry roads. It's about an hours ride out to Starks Tavern near Hampshire, Il.

I also do a weekly Sunday ride over the winter (to keep the juices flowing) called Blue Balls Brunch rides. Don't get too many riders for those either. :D

Only criteria is the roads have to be dry.
My philosophy is = I'm not spending $32K+ for a bike and then store it in a garage for 6 months a year. :pepper:

Stay warm and save the wave.

We rode Sunday at 40 degrees. It was my first ride on my new freewheeler "Trixie". It was amazing and cold. I'd do it again and again and again just to ride!!

I agree with you I'm not having something this expensive sitting for six months so we're in south Central Texas right now and in four days have over 50 miles on in the rough and wild Hill Country. more to come the next few days. Lowest temps when riding have been 55 and the highest have been 75, not bad when it's been -30 back home this week.

Good for you and the rest! I tried to ride year round up in the colder country. I found heated garments a must. A vest will do but a liner with sleeves is better on a 'windy' bike like a Freewheeler. I avoided Ice/snow on two wheels but I think a jaunt on packed snow would be fun on a trike if one could avoid cages.

Rode to work last Wednesday.

17 degrees out. 35 miles mostly freeway to get there. It was mercifully in the 30's when I got there (we are at a higher elevation where I live, and inland from Lake Erie, always colder here especially when the lake is still liquid.)

42 degrees or so when I left for home.

It was good to get that thing out of the garage.

Is the 50 more like 500 now?

Love that picture! My dad went with the ALR for the New Years ride at 30 degrees, I think there were 6 or 7 that got out that day. We still had snow and ice on our driveway and road so ours stayed parked. Looks like high 50's this Saturday, so might get a ride in January.

We are fortunate enough to live in Southern California where it rarely gets anywhere near freezing. 50ish in the dead of winter is the norm, so we ride a lot. My rule of thumb, if the outside thermometer is above 40, take the 'Free. Years ago I bought a lightweight battery powered heated jacket that is plenty warm (sometimes too warm)
