I have a 2014 trike and I'm looking for advice on intercom system using either the old 7 pin system or Bluetooth. I am technically challenged but I would like to see what everyone would suggest being the best brands for us. My wife and I usually wear half helmets and we are hoping to find something that we can talk to each other and also listen to our music together with. TY. Dave.

Dave - good morning.

You didn't mention which trike you have (so many out there now) - so, I will assume you are referring to the 2014 TriGlide.

I had a 2014 Harley and that bike came equipped with the Boom Box 6.5 - in my opinion, that worked well. You should have a front and back 7 pin connector already installed no your trike. Such would allow you to have intercom and music between you and your wife. These are wired sets.

If you don't already have the wired headsets, you can buy them from Harley. They are a bit expensive so, before buying new, look at the Harley Forum for sale boards - several folks sell these at half the price. You can also buy them from places like J&M audio.

Another option is to buy something like Cardo PackTalk Bold. These are wireless headsets and will allow you to talk to your wife. They also have built in radios. We have a set of these; I wear a 3/4 helmet and my wife uses a half helmet - so, I know they fit well in both.

Things to consider - do you listen to music by way of headset or bike speakers. Do you have a CB on the bike? If you have a CB, the wireless will not connect to the CB unless you install what Harley calls a WHIM (Wireless Helmet Interface Module). I did not install one of these because if you do, you will lose the ability to connect any wired headsets. We have two sets of helmets - wired and wireless.

Don't want to get too long here - lets see what you come back with and we can chat more.

I had the 2014 Triglide and used the wired headsets, I now have bluetooth on my new to me 2019 Goldwing and I believe I liked the wired system better mainly because of the wind noise. I have not had these J&M bluetooth very long so it may be the operator but the the Triglide had built in VOX and it was adjustable and worked very well.

Woody, I agree with you 100%. While the Cardo are nice units, I have yet to find a way to eliminate the wind noise. On top of that, if playing music through the speakers, the mc picks up the music and feed it back to us.

This was one of my earlier concerns and added to the reason I did not want to add the WHIM (it deletes the wired option). So, for local trips, we use the cardo. For long trips, we plan to use the wired. Plus, with wired, we can tap right into our phone and us google maps (we have an android)

It is a TriGlide Rushmore. I don't have the wired sets. From what I'm reading on here that is what I am going to try first. Thanks for the help Everyone.

Great - are you a member on the HD Forum? If so, look in the for sale section. Guy there has a new one for $80. Think they are abut $180 from the dealership.

Goos luck

I use wired J&M elite or performance headsets and they work great. For now I like them a lot. Very clear. Works great on phone calls and CB as well.

Like ^^^^ says. They have the HD ones for sale there all the time.

I like J&M myself so far I have had great customer service, the bluetooth that came with this Goldwing lasted about a week and died, I called J&M looking for a way to reset it they told me there was no way to reset it and to send it to them. They emailed me every step of the way i.e. when they received it when it was on work bench and when they decided to repair it and when it was on it's way I got it back and it has been working fine so far. :clapping:

I too use J&M headsets exclusively . . . for over 20 years. They are much, much better that the H-D headsets.
