In Theory?????

Ok, so the road king windshield will work, but the headlight hole is too large (9" I think) so this one has a 7" hole http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/m...ley-davidson-metric-cruisers/part/MEM-FATS-21 and a RK bracket on ebay is $55.00. Do you think it will work correctly? And,,,it comes in various tented bottoms if you are into that.

Get the Heritage WS. The opening is the same up & down but the left to right opening is 2" smaller. Same bolt pattern as the RK shield. How'd that Clearview work out? Any less buffeting with the 2" wider and 2" longer?

Thanks for the info. So, if I understand you, the brackets for the FW, RK and the Heritage are all the same with just the plastic being different??? I didn't get the Clearview yet as I was trying to determine if the brackets were the same as they don't supply with brackets that I know of. I still may order it before the end of the month to get a discount.

Just a thought....
The windshield on my Freewheeler is a cut-down windshield from my wife's old Deluxe. I had to re-do the brackets, but for free.....

I do get air coming "under" the shield. Not enought to bother me, 'buffet' my helmet or blow my glasses off, but when I started reading here about the headlight cutout I took a couple of towels and stuffed the gap with them. Hit the highway at 75mph and the air flow was about the same. Air was coming under the shield and between the tank and the back of the shield. Didn't look like the size of the cutout would make any difference

But, that is just me

Let me back track. I thought the picture of the orange FW was your bike. I called Andy at Clearview and he said the guy with that FW ordered it 2"wider and 2" longer. That's why I asked you if the buffeting was less. I don't know if the brackets for the FW,RK and Heritage are the same where they mount up to the forks, but the hole pattern is the same on all them. I think the only exception is the CVO RK which has 7 bolts along the top horizontal strap. As long as you have 5 bolts along the top strap they're all the same. I bought the HD FW shield with brackets and mounted a LRS shield to them. I got the Heritage shield instead of the RK shield because the opening on the Heritage is smaller. What I' saying is the RK, Heritage and Switchback shield will mount up to the FW brackets as they're all the same hole pattern.

I've had about the same experience. Bought a used Road King shield assy. and replaced the plastic with one from a Switchback I had on hand so the hole pattern is the same. There is a bigger gap between the plastic and head light than I'd like just for looks but I do not get excessive buffeting and plugging made no difference. I traded a 15 TG for the Free because I felt too enclosed on the TG. Naturally YMMV.

I traded wife's 09 tri that I inhereted when she bought her 11. Say some "preview" pictures of the Freewheeler, called my dealer and they said the Freewheeler was coming out in a month. Gave them my credit card number and told them to put a 'sold' sign on the first one that came in. SUUUURRRRREEEEEE am glad I did that!

When I bought my Ultra I took off the lower fairings and put a 4" windshield on it. Still wasn't happy with the bat wing. Ditto the '09 trike
