I was referred to this forum by an HDForum.com member. I currently ride a 2010 Ultra

Hi I hope you don't mind me signing up to this forum. I'm in the learning process as I'm getting more interested in trikes. I currently ride a 2010 Ultra Classic and have been riding since 1974. I will soon be 60 and have started thinking a trike could be in my near future. My wife tried riding with me years ago and decided it wasn't for her. She has said if I get a trike she would try riding on the back. I actually test rode a Triglide at demo days this summer. I'm really interested in test riding the new Freewheeler. Are there any new Freewheeler owners that could give me some feedback ? Thanks

Boy, 3 dobies now and I'd be.....well, never mind. Welcome to the forum 3, I'm somewhat new here myself. I'm riding a '12 Triglide but wish I'd have opted for something with independent rear suspension as it would probably ride a lot better. You and I were both riding the same model bike before I trade for my trike and that extra wheel in back makes a lot of difference in ride comfort. Good luck in your ride search.

Welcome to TT, enjoy reading all the info, there is a lot of good stuff in here.
Sounds like your going down the right road test driving and looking for the right ride. While there is plenty of info here I found that a lot of the personal likes & dislikes didn't apply when I took my first TG test ride and really didn't apply after I bought & rode my TG.
Enjoy reading & enjoy your new trike when you find the right one! :pepper:

Amen to this ! I got mine last week and took a 400 mile ride Saturday. I was really surprised that I was much less fatigued than riding on two. I had started having some difficulty with two up fully loaded U turns as the wife wants to help me turn and usually leans for me despite my please to JUST SIT STILL ! Now she can lean all she wants to. She also can wiggle around going down the highway without making me change lanes. And I noticed she was a lot fresher when we got home too, and that is a good thing.

Hope your experience is as good as mine has been. Great folks here with lots of information and laughs. And you can read it at work. BTW I am 61.

I don't think your wife will be interested in the Freewheeler.
But that's just me. Doesn't look like a two up comfort ride to me.

First, welcome aboard. I rode a 2009 Tri-Glide from 2011 to this year when I traded it in on a new Freewheeler. I had 50,000 miles on the '09, and a tad over 1000 miles on the Freewheeler. REALLY like the Free! seems to ride better, steer easier and is just generally more fun. Not a lot of stuff in front of you. Frankly, the Ultra and then the Tri were the only bikes I've ever owned with windshields. The Free is the closest thing to my old Dyna with 3 wheels. I'm not that big on storage, wife and I have ridden all over the south-west on Dynas and Softails.

When we took the trikes on long trips we carried luggage on the back, a lot easier than loading and unloading trunks and tourpacks.

Besides, 80% of our riding is food runs or day runs.

IT IS ALL A MATTER OF PERSONAL TASTE!!

Got a ton of videos and slide shows on Utube, search screwballsteve and have a look.

Oh, I'll 70 in November, wife is pushing 64.

We are both on trikes because we are old and inform

Should be able to trike your Ultra for about $12,000.00 Be sure to install a rake kit.

Welcome to the board from SW MO. I'm about 30 miles south of Joplin, just a little over 3 hours from Sedalia. Of course, that is going up to Nevada on I-49, the more interesting way would take a little more time. :) If you haven't found the Experienced Rider Thread already, there is a plethora of good info here: http://www.triketalk.com/forum/thre...rike-Great-Info!?highlight=experienced+riders

I triked my 08 ultra with a motor trike I.R.S. kit and I am impressed with the ride. I have looked at the free wheeler, but it doesn't have a tour pack so there is a lot less room for my stuff.
IMO the conversion was better for me.
good luck
