As we get more and more in to the riding season,I hope every one will wear a dot. approved helmit.
In 1995 my late wife and I were at the cemetary in deadwood S.D. WHEN I DROPPED THE BIKE WE WERE GOING NO MORE THEN 3 MPH.
IF SHE HAD NOT HAD HER HELMIT ON THE FALL WOULD HAVE KILLED HER,AS SHE LANDED ON HER LEFT SIDE AND HEAD,AS IT WAS IT REALLY RANG HER BELL AND SHE LAYED THERE FOR A FEW MINUNETS,ALSO IT DESTROED HER ARI THREE QUATER FLIP SHIELD HELMIT,LUCKLY WE HAD A EXTRA HELMIT WITH US.
AFTER THAT INCEDENT IS WHEN WE DECIDED TO TRIKE OUR BIKE.
I KNOW IT MAY SOUND LIKE I AM HARPING AND I AM,BUT PLEASE PLEASE WEAR A HELMIT.
:pray::pray::pray::pray::pray:

I stopped my motoguzzi in a turn at wal mart because the car in front stopped in order to get into a parking space. I stopped real short and laid the goose down on its side and fell over hitting my head on the ground. I split open the helmet not my head thank GOD I was wearing a helmet. and had engine bars on the bike. curley

John wouldn't wear a helmet for the longest time after I started riding the Ultra with him. He does look good in a do-rag, but after I 'helmet-butted' him a few times when he either braked quickly or when I fell asleep (which is often), I convinced him that the road was indeed harder than his noggin. Now that we're on three wheels, he won't go out without at least his half helmet on . . . perseverance pays off!! ;)

Re: Helmets

In 1978 I hit a patch of loose gravel in a turn and went down. Only cut my face up pretty bad, crushed my cheek bone, and broke a finger but destroyed my helmet. That sucker cracked like an egg!!! To this day it is part of the motorcycle safe course at Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, TX. I can't imagine the alternate outcome if I had not been wearing that helmet....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Adding my .02 cents

When the national helmet laws was repealed, 1978 I think(?) and states allowed people to once again ride with out one, motorcycle deaths rose 30% and remain at that ratio in no helmet states. One could argue that they do not save lives, but rather reduce the odds of you being killed. But they also drastically reduce the chance that you will end up in a vegetative state. The last line is why I support mandatory helmet laws. Accident victims that end up in nursing homes do cost each and everyone of us. Insurance and or Gov programs end up footing the bill. Insurance Co pass that on to us, and the Gov uses our tax dollars.

A light weight half helmet provides a thousand times the protection as nothing at all.
