Hello from New England / Feb. 1 ride.

Hi Folks,
Hope everyone is doing well. Went out for a spin late this afternoon after seeing several other cold weather riders ..mostly metric, as usual, needed to balance that out.
Unusual to hear about PMS (parked...) from SouthEast USA riders.
Don't actually remember the last time they got such a long stretch of cold. Be interesting to see what the forecast for Daytona will be. Last time we went to New Smyrna Beach the locals were quite happy to compare their 12 month riding season with ours.

Have an 04 XL conversion... bought a bare bones, gel coat prototype from NW US fibreglas fabricator, used a Paughco platform, Brembo calipers, aluminum rims... Now planning vinyl wrap finish, upgrade to stock HD shocks, and researching the feasibility of a Jagg cooler.
Psyched to join after lurking for a bit. Thanks to the moderators for hosting

I would love to see some photos of you trike. I'm tossing around the idea of using a Paughco conversion on an old 883...

Hi Rick, Good to hear from you. What are you riding?
Here's an example of the fibreglas on our trike. Its an 04 1200.
Older XLs (99, 00, earlier) came from the MoCo with a high seat height, unless you bought the one model with a lower profile. Thus you could use a couple of different two up seats.... and stretch your legs to manage the fwd controls.
Newer models, they just sunk the frame so the two up seat
rams your front parts against the tank, making two up riding difficult, and requiring PIA experimenting with shock preload.
Thus defeating the purpose of the conversion. It's one of the few areas where a BT is better than an XL for anything.

Our conversion runs brembo calipers, but good luck finding pads for them.
You've seen the link below...
This model Paughco conversion (brakes are a common USA caliper) and shows the axles fixed direct to the puleyl.

The shackles mounting the axle are very heavy duty.
I ride an 06 FLHTI with a CSC Daytona conversion. My sister-in-law has a 1989 883 that she may want to sell. I thought a little 883 hot rod would be fun around town, and the Paughco conversion looked like it was pretty straight forward. We shall see if the 883 really does come to market...
