For all of us that purchased the original generation GL1800, we have to live without the benefit of heated grips or a seat. The grip technology came longhand was and is an easy modification, which I did many years ago. However the heated seat was a horse of a different color, unless you were Warren Buffet and wished to lay down big $$$$ for a Corbin or other aftermarket one. I have discovered this modi from another board and thought I would share it here, if that is okay with the moderators.

I haven't tried this yet but it does look like it will work. I will probably even just add heated pads to my current seat to save $$ as well.

The heated seat on the later model Wings is interesting. It does not activate heat until the temp is below 50 degrees. Found that out from my Tech who was able to contact an engineer at Honda that confirmed it. When I first bought my 2012 I thought something was wrong since I couldn't get the seat to heat up. I was expecting heat at 60 degrees. I don't ride much below 50 so is doesn't really help me much.

I tested my seat when I had it redone and it heated up with the temperature above 50 degrees. I don't remember the exact temperature but I wasn't wearing my heated gear at the time.
