Heated Grips Help

[Gold Rush]

My brother has a late 90's model Street Glide that he had heated grips installed. He thinks these are OEM HD grips. All they have is an on/off switch. There is no way to regulate the heat except shut the switch off from time to time. That just don't sound right to me. Anyone have experience and possible modifications we could do?

tap into the power wire with a rotary rheostat.

I thought all H-D grips had an adjuctability. At least all the ones I ever had had the rheostat control on the left grip.
