On September 5th Discovery Channel is airing a movie about the beginning of Harley Davidson Motor Company. I can't tell you much about what it will be about but I bet it will be interesting, all I know about it is from the ads I have seen on TV and you all probably saw the same ads. I set my DVR to record the entire series. I think it is three episodes. Check out this link http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/harley-and-the-davidsons/

I'm not a Harley Guy, I am a motorcycle Guy, I thought the first episode of Harley and the Davidsons was very good. I look forward to the remaining two. If your a motorcycle person, this is a GR8 mini series.

I recorded it and will watch during the downtime in the middle of the day. Bike sales have been down around here. New stuff hits the store this week and I am sure things will improve. Jim

I missed the first episode, Did catch the second one... I bet the Indian boys are screaming hatchet job.. :D:Shrug:

HD Layoffs

Peoples discretionary income is being eroded by increased costs of living and a soft economy. Hard to sign up for 12 year loans for a MC when you have to put food on the table.

PS: Buddy I know has noticed 2 yr old, untitled HD sitting on showroom floors in his locale. Can't move them.

Watched both nites so far. Interesting story and educational, from a historical prospective, at the same time.
Sales for HD should increase after this mini series is complete.
Hopefully HD takes cues from the show, & gets back into racing.
Dirt track racing is still a potential for HD, as the format seems to favor machines that produce gobs of torque over raw horsepower...

I have been watching too.How accurate is it really?

One scene on episode 2 made mention of the US Postal Service. The USPS did not exist at that time. Not until sometime in the '70's.(close enough for government work).

The Department of the Post Office.

yer right Taylor, there was a fair amount of modern terminology in all 3 episodes. And I had to laugh at how they could ride those bike so fast over dirt roads with no suspension. Also, I didn't know about HD awarding a dealership to the black racer because of what the AMA president had said. That was pretty darn cool!

I could be wrong, but I don't think those Irishmen spent a lot of time with Budweiser either.Reckon it was made out of rice back then as it is today?
