Back in 2004 after I bought my first new bike, a greybeard biker close friend of mine fitted a guardian bell on the lower right floorboard bracket, then took it for a short ride to bless it.
When I sold the bike several years ago, I kept the bell and hung it on the lid of my tool chest as a reminder of him and our conversations we had over the years.
I just got news he passed a few weeks ago of pancreatic cancer and it reminded me of the bell he put on my bike. I brought it in the house and carefully polished it up while saying a prayer for him and remembering some of his stories.
My wife saw me shedding a tear with the bell in my hand and offered to hang it on the bike for me in remembrance of him. Is this appropriate or should I keep it retired on the tool chest since he isn’t here to hang it on the bike for me?
