Greetings from Missouri

Just found this website and it is good to know there are others who want to discuss TRIKES regardless of brand.

I live in Southeast Missouri, in the summer and central Florida in the winter. (Boy is it nice to be retired).

My trike is a 2007 Goldwing with a 2015 Motor Trike conversion. I have had it a little over a year and really like it. There is a lot of getting used to about a trike, as I am sure that everyone here knows all about. My previous bike was a 2003 Goldwing and I really liked it. When you get to be 81 years old, it is time to start thinking of a safer, more stable way to ride, (I guess). I was sold on a Spyder but after riding one, I didn't care for it and the Goldwing trike was much like the 2003 Goldwing, so the Goldwing was my choice. My wife likes the trike much better and I have to admit that stopping in traffic, not worrying about gravel on the road, or "is this spot level enough to park on", are all nice attributes to the change over.

I would like to say that we ride the trike to Florida in the winter but that would be a false brag. We trailer it down south where a lot of folks in our situation also have bikes and we ride quite a bit all over central Florida. Many folks don't know that Florida is much more than all of the glitz of the big cities. Central Florida has many miles of paved back roads just made for folks who just want to enjoy the ride, the scenery, and lots of good places to eat or have an ice cream.

My latest challenge has been configuring a trailer for the trike. I have a 5ft wide by 10ft long single axle trailer that I have modified many times over. I widened it by about 6 inches. (only had 1 7/8" clearance on each side before). Since the trailer doesn't tilt I had to come up with a way to load it. Since the undercarriage only has 3 1/2" clearance, a ramp had to be pretty long. I finally found that I could back it into a ditch and load it, but that can be a problem too. I finally got 3 aluminium ramps that work and we will see how that works this winter.

I am happy to be among people of like interests and will enjoy reading all of the posts about trikes.
