Way back in September of 2015 I met a group at a drive in for light dinner & ice cream. I backed into what was a wide space and joined others on the patio. A friend suddenly said a guy just opened a door and hit our trike, I looked, guy was rubbing the right rear fender. I went through the dining area and met him coming in. At first, he said he didn't hit it, I went out to inspect, he followed. Small chip in fiberglass near top, his pass side door fit. He admitted it then, said he was sorry, offered me a few bucks. I accepted.

Yeah, I was mad, there was no vehicle there when I parked so he pulled in with my trike sitting there, was his PU done the dead and he was who I saw "rubbing it", so he knew.

Came home, tried several different bottles of red or dark red touchup, none were great matches, but I finally had it where I could ignore it, it looked better than a white chip.

I went on line, found a company "Touch Up Direct", entered info, had an envelope in mail couple days later. I put the padded envelope in my trike stuff cabinet with a note. Before I got around to it, cold weather set in and then in 2016 I had a health issue sidetrack me.

A couple days ago, I got to it. Envelope had 4 bottles, Primer, CSR Base, CSR tint or step II, and a bottle of Clear Top Coat. Nice sized bottles too, I have aplenty now....but I hope there is no more need.

I used some mild cleaner too remove unmatched TU Paint (was a Ford color for our 2008 Mustang) and when chip was white again, cleaned area with a light prep spray. Then Primed, applied base coat, dried with mild heat gun, then a touch of tint coat, dry again, then clear coat.

That's when I saw the tint coat was probably for darkening it to match darker parts of the two tone Candy Spectra Red trike, so I redid it without using tint coat. Beautiful match. Next day, I waxed it. Wife couldn't find it today, and she knew about where it was.

Primer and color paints were water based paints, clear coat is an enamel I think. Also had wipes in envelope, a pair of rubber gloves, and test swatches to play with. Paint kit is near 4 years old, but was like new in use. Just wanted to say, Quality kit!

Call me anal, but that white chip just bugged me.

Shake Well!
