Having a Garage Sale today and I'm not believing what people will buy. The girls have sold stuff I thought we'd have haul to the dump. pepper

We were to hold one today also, but the city where I own some commercial property doesn't allow garage sales there. Garage sales are allowed from residential property only unless it's a non profit. The wife and her niece worked had getting everything ready. We'll do one next spring now since the holidays are now on us.

I swear half the folks at ours were buying stuff for Christmas presents, at least thats what we gathered from the conversations we overheard. Granted most of what we had was like new but wasn't worth much. I guess the price was right so almost everything went away. Happy!

We stopped by our daughter's yard sale a year or so ago and was amazed at the "stuff" people would buy. Some folks thought they were getting the bargain of a lifetime, while she couldn't wait to get rid of it. Amazing... :D :laugh:

Nothing to do with the sale, but we also had fun when some folks would ask, "who are the old pharts riding the motorcycles?" :D :laugh:

Oh Boy! I'll be anxiously waiting for that to show up under my Christmas tree! Just a little silly putty applied in the right places and she'll be looking like the real deal. ThumbUp

Lol,,,. Ya know, Zook. That reminds me of something George Carlin once said;

"Take two things that have never been nailed together, and some schmuck will buy it!"

:laugh:LMAO

Garage sales are a big thing here around our neck of the woods. They plan their weekends, carry their newspapers with the sale ads and almost fight over things. Have a good sale Zook.

I really dreaded having this garage sale but it was the best one ever, not in terms of money taken in, but in volume of junk gone and in pure entertainment value. The dickering was the most fun for me, because little did they realize I'd give it all away and help them load it to get it out of my yard. We had everything priced ridiculously low already because the goal was to seriously de-clutter, having no left over junk when we were done. Some recognized the bargains and didn't dicker at all but the hardcore, more seasoned, professional garage-salers brought their A game.

Close to half our junk pile was bought in the first hour, the yard was full of shoppers by 6:30 AM and we didnt open until 7:00! For fun I decided to pull the price stickers off the remaining items and when asked a price I'd say "Make me an offer". Surprisingly, most wouldn't throw out a number so when I did, with a straight face I called out a ridiculously high price as in close to brand new store price and never lost my poker face. It was fun to see the shock in their eyes! Then I'd grin and hit them with a ridiculously low price or bundle it up with other similar junk and they'd start grabbing stuff, almost fighting over it and the remaining junk flew off the tables. They got bargains and we no longer look like a candidate for a "Hoarders" episode. It was a lot of fun.
