fuel pressure

I'm considering using gravity flow with a fuel lock-off valve. Will this work or will it be to much for the carb to handle? Using a single carb. Got the carb back on and re-set it'll idle now. The way i had it hooked up though was running to much fuel. Was using a electric fuel pump running out of a gas can.

On your electric fuel pump, put a fuel regulator in line before carb and you would be fine with it, if you want to use elect. fuel pump.
If you use the other way, just put a in line cut off valve to turn fuel off when parked and will keep carb from dumping fuel into your motor.

I've got a electric pump thats rated from 1.5 to 8 psi, if I put a regulator between it and the carb turned down to about 2.5 to 3 psi. Will this work, without needing a cut-off valve??

In answer to your question, yes, you can use gravity flow & a valve. The one thing you have to keep in mind is the fuel level MUST be above the carb to work. For example, if you remote the tank up behind the forks, on steep down grades it's possible to "run out of fuel" if the tank gets below the carb. Care must also be observed when the tank is directly above the engine since any spillage when refueling with a hot engine could cause a fire.
