Front tire

Lots of folks go that way with the BT46 and mount it backwards. I found an Avon trike tire around Christmas and my youngest daughter bought it for me as a Christmas present. I have used the Avon trike tires in the past and really think they are a tad over-priced for any perceived benefit. The trike tire seems to handle/ride OK but not all that much different than the prior tire which wore pretty fast (can't recall brand but it was V rated so the rubber was soft... not a good idea).

Hey Jersey Mike. NJMike here. I’m gonna put the same tire on my front this summer. But I’m not one of those that believe in putting it on backwards….

Where in NJ are you?

I’ve got my second BT 46 as my front tire and it’s the exact same size as the OEM Tire 130/70/18. There is another size 130/80/18 which is too tall and will rub the rear of the fender. Be sure to get the 130/70/18. The first time I used the BT 46 I had 25,000 miles on it when I sold it and it still looked great. I usually got around 18 K on the OEM Tire. I saw no difference in handling and comfort with the BT 46.

It doesn't matter about it being a "rear" tire. It's the size of the tire that's important. It will fit your front rim just fine. And the big advantage of using it is it has deeper treads which is a bonus for trike owners as trike tires only roll around on the center tread anyway. It takes much longer to wear the tire out over a regular sized front tire like many above mention.
